""Our intention is to convert many of those silver medals into gold in Rio,"" Coates said. ""That can easily be achieved through our partnership with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) through the Winning Edge Program.""

He said the results from swimming are ""particularly pleasing"" with 12 medals, three golds and nine silvers. Cycling also recorded a very good result with six medals, two gold, two silver and two bronze medals, he said.
